Superstore Volunteering

Volunteer in our Superstore

The Hospice has a Superstore on the Clifton Triangle and will be opening another one in Portishead in early 2025. We're looking for people to join the volunteer team. It's a great way to meet new people, be environmentally conscious and engage with your local community. See below for further information or apply now and get going.

What is a Superstore?

Our Superstores are brand-new concept stores for the Hospice. Two thirds of the stock is furniture, both second-hand and new. Shoppers will also find electricals and homeware, and the usual blend of preloved clothing, vintage treasures, and accessories that the Hospice is known for.

Where are the Superstores?

The Clifton Triangle Superstore is located in the old Bathstore building opposite QEH school. The Portishead Superstore will be located on Wyndham Way near Peacocks and Pets at Home.

What sort of work will I be doing?

Our Superstore volunteers get involved in a wider variety of roles than our usual shops. We'd love your help with some or all the following:

  • Providing excellent customer service including using tills
  • Sorting and processing stock through the donation station
  • Arranging imaginative and attractive merchandising and window displays
  • Assembling and upcycling furniture
  • Researching and listing tech items on our ebay site

What hours can I work?

We welcome any amount of time you can give us. Some volunteers work a couple of hours a week, others might come in for 2 or 3 days. We can work with you on what time you can spare and fit volunteering around your existing commitments.

What skills will I gain?

You'll be able to gain useful experience and transferable skills in retail and customer service. This looks great on CVs and UCAS forms.

What training will I be given?

We provide full training and support is always available. We pride ourselves on looking after our volunteers.

I'm under 18, can I volunteer?

We are welcoming volunteers aged 13-17 particularly those looking to volunteer as part of their DofE award.

What other benefits are there?

Volunteering is good for you. Evidence shows it's great for your mental and physical health! You'll make friends and meet lots of new people, gain confidence and self-esteem. You'll also be contributing to the 'circular economy', cutting down on landfill and encouraging Bristol to recycle.

Can it lead to a career with the Hospice?

Some of our volunteers have gained employment as a paid member of staff within our charity shops or with another employer because of the experience they've gained.

What next?

We'd love to hear from you. Complete the form below and we will be in touch to organise a taster session.
