Getting Referred

Who is eligible for our care?

Patients are eligible for care with St Peter's Hospice if:

  • They are over 18 years old
  • They have a progressive, life-limiting illness, such as cancer, heart disease, lung disease or a neurological disease
  • They live in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset or part of BANES

We also offer support to family members or carers even if the person they care for has declined our offer of support.

New patients are mostly referred to us by a health or social care professional such as your GP or Community Nurse, or by your hospital team.

What happens once you have been referred?

After you've been referred to us, you will receive a telephone call from one of our nurses to discuss what happens next. The nurse will talk you through the Hospice services and support available and address any urgent issues. You are unique, the nurse will offer specific services based on your individual need at that time. If things change, we adapt to support your changing needs.

Please let us know if you have any communication or learning needs
that we can support you with.

If you would like to discuss our services and support please do phone our clinical advice line: 0117 915 9430

You are unique, we provide support with that in mind, and your care can be changed as your needs change.

Important Announcement: Light Up a Life Event on 7 December cancelled

Due to the storm predicted to arrive this weekend and the rare red weather warning issued by The Met Office across Bristol and the South West, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

We know how important this event is for our community and we share your disappointment, but the safety of our patients and supporters is our highest priority.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us via community@stpetershospice.org
