Our Care

Who We Care For

People receiving our care have a wide range of conditions, including Cancer, Heart Failure, lung disease such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and neurological illness such as Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Parkinson's Disease. We care for and support adults in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset area.

Support is focused around the physical, psychological, social and spiritual issues that can arise as a result of serious illness, in order to improve the quality of a person's life. Everyone is unique, and we provide support with that in mind. Our goal is to help our patients live well and support their families and friends.

A referral to the Hospice may be a relief for you, or you may be scared about what this means. Whatever you're feeling, you probably have a lot of questions. Our team is here to answer them, and help you make the right choices for you about the next stages of your care.

You will find full information about the care we offer below. If you'd like to read an overview of our care, you may find it useful to start by reading our Patient Guide.

Our Teams

Every member of our team is dedicated to giving patients and their families the best possible care and support, whether that's in their own homes, through our groups or in our Inpatient Unit.

Where We Care

When many people think of hospice care, they picture going somewhere to be looked after during the last days of their life. They're not wrong - we do offer inpatient care. But many patients receive our care over a number of months in the comfort of their own homes. We recognise that people's needs can change over time - that's why our range of services offer different types of support at different times.

So our support comes in lots of different packages. But no matter what form it takes, your individual needs are at the heart of that support. Whether you are in your own bedroom or one of ours, we aim to give you and your family the best possible care.

Our getting referred page gives you more detailed information about who is eligible for our care, while our resources section has a number of guides, films and audio for patients and families to access from home to help with various aspects of care and wellbeing.

Getting support from us might seem like a daunting prospect. Reading about other people's experiences can really help. We hope our patient and family stories will reassure and comfort you.

Important Announcement: Light Up a Life Event on 7 December cancelled

Due to the storm predicted to arrive this weekend and the rare red weather warning issued by The Met Office across Bristol and the South West, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

We know how important this event is for our community and we share your disappointment, but the safety of our patients and supporters is our highest priority.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us via community@stpetershospice.org
