Meet the Fundraising Team

Our Fundraising Team are passionate about raising income to support our patients and their families. If you're supporting the Hospice through attending one of our events, donating, playing our lottery or taking on a challenge, they are here to help you every step of the way.

Sarah Allen-Gunn - Director of Fundraising & Communications

Sarah Allen-Gunn

As the Director of the team I get to work with all the fab members of the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications gang to highlight the work of the Hospice and generate funds to keep it running. I've been here since 2017 and find it the most inspiring place to work, thanks to the incredible local families we work with and the fantastic team here at St Peter's who make it happen.

Outside of work I'm usually found running round after my young family but when time allows I love to head back to my homeland of Cornwall for glorious sea swims and cliff top walks.

Kat Cheshire - Head of Fundraising

Kat Cheshire

Hi, I'm Kat, and I joined St Peter's Hospice in September 2024. With 15 years of experience in leading fundraising teams, I've developed a knack for building and implementing strategies that boost income and make a real impact. I've found a passionate fundraising community here at St Peter's, and I absolutely love working with dedicated people who are committed to making a difference.

Outside of work, my young family keeps me on my toes (and often awake at night!). When I do find some quiet time, I enjoy gardening and have recently discovered a love for bird spotting. I'm embracing my middle age and all the new hobbies that come with it.

Katie Turton - Senior Fundraising Manager

Katie Turton

Hi I'm Katie, the Senior Fundraising Manager on the team and very proud to be working with the wonderful team of fundraisers who put so much passion and energy into raising funds for the Hospice. I've worked in the fundraising sector for over 15 years but being a Bristolian myself, I feel extremely fortunate to now be working for a charity that I've supported and considered a household-name since being a young child.

Spending time outdoors and holidaying with family and friends is my favourite way to spend my free time. (But the geek in me also loves a jigsaw with a G&T thrown in for good measure!)

Sophie Cullinane - Community Fundraising Manager

Sophie Cullinane

I'm Sophie the Community Fundraising Manager. I've been in the fundraising sector for 6 years having worked in London, and now I'm proud to say I work for St Peter's in Bristol. I support groups and individuals who fundraise for the Hospice to help them reach their full fundraising potential. The most enjoyable part of my job is that I get to meet so many amazing people who are so generous, kind and passionate about our cause. Outside of work I like spending time outdoors, getting friends together for a Sunday roast and a gritty crime series.

Meg Austin - Community Fundraising Officer

Meg Austin

Hello! I’m Meg, and I joined the St Peter's Hospice Fundraising Team in August 2024. I'm excited to be part of such an amazing organisation. Before this role, I worked in fundraising in both London and Birmingham, and I'm now happy to call Bristol my home.

I have a passion for community fundraising because it allows me to connect with inspiring individuals who go the extra mile to support our cause in so many different ways. It's also a great way to explore the city. When I'm not working, I like attending gigs and festivals.

Becky Mitchell - Individual Giving Manager

Becky Mitchell

Hiya! My name's Becky and I started working for the Hospice after I left university in 2009. I've had a few roles over this time, but I've been the Individual Giving Manager for four years now. I love seeing the response from our fundraising appeals and newsletters and am always blown away by the incredible support we receive from our community.

In my spare time I love cooking for family and friends, reading and keeping fit, but you'll mostly find me running around after my two young children!

Matt Crothers - Legacy Manager

Matt Crothers

St Peter's Hospice is special to Bristol, and this is reflected in the incredible support we receive from local people. As Legacy Manager, I am in awe of the generosity of our community and the incredible gifts our supporters leave to St Peter's in their Wills.

These gifts leave a lasting legacy of care for the people of Bristol and beyond, helping the Hospice be there for local patients and families when it matters most. I love my job, and feel privileged to play a small part in helping our teams deliver their incredible services.

Outside of work I love playing and watching sport, hiking and exploring new places, and discovering a good pub.

Hayley Ali - Fundraising Events Manager

Hayley Ali

Hello! I organise our events like the Tour de Bristol, The Rugby March and Walk to Remember. I've been at the Hospice since 2019 and love how every day is different, working on a real variety of different events, meeting and cheering on our wonderful fundraisers, and exploring new routes around Bristol. My real loves are to travel, hike and especially to go camping!

Molly O'Donoghue - Fundraising Events Manager

Molly O'Donoghue

Hello! I'm Molly and I organise events such as Tour de Bristol, The Rugby March and Walk to Remember alongside our overseas challenges! I've been at the Hospice for two years and joined the fundraising team in December 2023 and absolutely love it. Every day is different and I get to meet so many of our brilliant fundraisers across the different events!

I love the outdoors especially hiking and wild swimming (even better when you find a good country pub along the way) and also cooking for friends and family testing out new recipes on them.

Jess Barke - Supporter Care Team Lead

Jess Barke

Hi! I'm Jess and I manage the Supporter Care Team here at St Peter's Hospice. Our team is brand new for 2024 but I started working at St Peter's in 2022. Throughout my time at the Hospice, I have been overwhelmed by how caring and passionate our supporters are, going above and beyond to ensure that the Hospice can continue its amazing work. I love that my role ensures this support can continue and that we are able to show how much we truly appreciate all of it!

Outside of work, I love being in nature, going on adventures in my campervan, wild swimming, and long hikes. Although, on the flip side, I also love hanging out with my cats, at home, with a cup of tea and an episode of my favourite show!

Jess Carew - Supporter Care Coordinator

Jess Carew

Hi, I'm Jess, my role is as a Supporter Care Coordinator, which is part of a lovely brand new team, with lots of exciting things to come in supporter care! Being able to be part of an amazing cause, where we build relationships with our supporters and provide support to the community, makes the role so fulfilling. Outside of work I love going for a coffee and being out in nature (especially when it’s sunny!).

Ben Lee - Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager

Ben Lee

Hi, I'm Ben, the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager and joined in April 2023. I love my role! When not driving our fundraising efforts, I'm moonlight as a taxi driver for my active kids. Outdoors, you'll find me cycling, running, or playing padel. I'm passionate about making a difference and thrive on creative partnerships. Let's chat about biking adventures or working together to bring positive energy and impact.

Hugh James - Corporate Partnership Officer

Hugh James

Hello! I work with our corporate partners across the South West to generate funds for the Hospice. This means I'm often giving talks to our current partners about the work of the Hospice or travelling in my trusty blue Skoda to support at fundraising events across Bristol. I've been at the Hospice since January 2024, each day I'm proud of our work and the ambitions of everyone in our team to support families across our community.

Away from work I try and keep active. I ran from Budapest to Prague a few years ago, so I'm always interested to get involved in whacky endurance challenges. In more leisurely settings I enjoy watching Leinster play rugby in Dublin or listening to Test cricket on the radio.

Nick Wilson - Philanthropy Officer

Nick Wilson

Hello! I'm Nick, the Philanthropy Officer at St Peter's Hospice. I work closely with key donors, nurturing relationships that support our mission. Before joining the Hospice, I was a teacher in Spain, and my favourite part of the job has to be going and meeting the people who keep the Hospice going!

Louise Allison - Trusts and Foundations Officer

Louise Allison

Hello! I'm Trusts and Foundations Officer, which mainly involves writing applications for grants to fund the brilliant work that St Peter's Hospice does. I've been a writer for many years and have worked in the charity sector for the last 6 years. I love the fact that I get to do something I enjoy, while contributing to a truly amazing cause.

Outside of work I love travel, camping and enjoying long walks with my family and crazy cocker spaniel, Wispa. I'm also a qualified florist and try to indulge my passion for all things floral when I have the time.

Emma Matthews - Lottery Manager

Emma Matthews

Hi I'm Emma! I joined St Peter's Hospice at the end of 2022 as the Lottery Manager. I have been in the fundraising sector for over 12 years. I am a born and bred Bristolian and am so proud to now be part of the Hospice team.

Outside of work, I spend my time trying to brush up on my dinosaur knowledge (to try and keep up with my 6-year-old!), I also love a bit of colouring (and a lot of reality TV!)

Kevin McGough - Database Manager

Kevin McGough

I have been with the St Peter's Hospice family since 2011, three years of which have been as the Database Manager. I manage the team, oversee our compliance with various areas of data regulation, provide insight and manage our Gift Aid processing, amongst other things. Outside of work I love a quiz and any sports.

Helen Walford - Database Administrator

Helen Walford

Hello I'm Helen! I joined the Database team at the Hospice in 2022 and I'm really enjoying it, learning lots every day and working with a lovely team. The best part about my job is knowing that I'm working for such an amazing charity that supports so many families. In my spare time I enjoy meeting up with my family and friends for a nice glass of wine, walking on the Mendips and going on holiday!
