Support Groups for Parents and Carers of Young People

Support Groups for Parents and Carers of Young People

We offer two drop-in support groups for parents and carers of young people, facilitated by a therapist from the Psychological Therapies team.

For parents and carers of a bereaved young person

This is a monthly online group for parents and carers of a bereaved child or young person. The group is facilitated by a Senior Psychological Support Therapist and is aimed at offering support and guidance for childhood bereavement, as well as offering the opportunity to hear from other families and offer mutual support and identification.

  • 7 November, 2.00-3.00pm
  • 5 December, 2.00-3.00pm
  • 9 January, 2.00-3.00pm

For parents and carers: "Talking to children and young people about an incurable illness"

This group takes place online every two months. It is intended to provide information and guidance around how to approach sensitive conversations with children and young people about an incurable illness. The session will be facilitated by a Senior Psychological Support Therapist and will include some psycho-education and practical advice, as well as provide a space to hear from other families for identification and support.

  • 28 November, 2.00-3.00pm
  • 16 January, 2.00-3.00pm
