Getting Referred

Who is eligible for our care?

Patients are eligible for care with St Peter's Hospice if:

  • They are over 18 years old
  • They have a progressive, life-limiting illness, such as cancer, heart disease, lung disease or a neurological disease
  • They are registered with a GP in Bristol, South Gloucestershire or North Somerset 

We also offer support to family members or carers even if the person they care for has declined our offer of support.

How can you get referred to us? 

You can refer yourself to us or you can be referred by a health or social care professional such as your GP or Community Nurse, or by your hospital team. You can also refer a family member or friend on their behalf.

What happens once you have been referred?

After you've been referred to us, we will contact you to discuss what happens next. We will talk you through the Hospice services and support available and address any urgent issues. You are unique, we will offer specific services based on your individual need at that time. If things change, we adapt to support your changing needs.
