Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement

St Peter's Hospice is committed to acting ethically and with integrity and upholding the principles of preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our organisation and supply chains.

Our Commitment

In line with our values of respect, excellence, passion, collaboration and compassion, we strive to ensure there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our organisation. We expect the same high standards from our partners, suppliers, contractors, and all organisations we work with.

Policies and Procedures

We have a range of internal policies in place that support our approach to preventing modern slavery including:

  • Safeguarding and whistleblowing policies - that enable staff to report concerns about unethical practices, including modern slavery.

  • Recruitment and employment policies - that ensure fair and lawful practices, including right-to-work checks and compliance with relevant employment law.

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion policy - that promotes fair treatment and respect for individuals’ rights.

  • Procurement policy - that ensures employees purchasing goods and services consider and assess modern slavery risks during procurement.

We regularly assess our policies to enhance our commitment to ethical operations.

Training and Awareness

Staff involved in procurement and recruitment receive training on safeguarding and ethical practices, which includes awareness of modern slavery risks. We promote a culture of vigilance and responsibility across the organisation.

Monitoring and Review

This statement was approved by St Peter's Hospice Board of Trustees in December 2025 and will be reviewed annually. It will be updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation, organisational structure, or procurement practices.
